These terms apply to every visitor, customer and wholesale buyer. Please read them before you order, and keep a copy for your records — your order confirmation email links back to this page.

Throughout these terms, "you" means the person browsing the site or placing an order.
Using this site
You need to be old enough to enter a contract, and the site is for personal shopping unless we've agreed otherwise.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to place an order. If you are under that age, you may only use this site with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
The site is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. Reselling our products requires a wholesale agreement — see the wholesale section below.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any lawful reason.
Accounts
You can order as a guest or create an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your login.
Please give accurate, current information when you register or check out. An incorrect address is the most common cause of a delayed or lost parcel, and we cannot cover reshipping costs for an address error made at checkout.
Tell us right away if you believe your account has been used without your permission. We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently.
Products and descriptions
Handmade items vary slightly, and screens show colours differently. Small variation isn't a defect.
Every product is poured, finished and packed by hand in small batches. Slight differences in colour, wax surface, scent strength and label placement are normal characteristics of handmade goods, not faults.
We work hard to photograph products accurately, but colours can appear differently from one screen to another. Scent is subjective and can be affected by room size, airflow, ceiling height and your own sense of smell.
Burn times, sizes and weights shown on the site are approximate and measured under normal indoor conditions. Ingredient and fragrance information is listed on each product page and on the base of every jar.
All items are subject to availability. Seasonal and limited-run scents may sell out and may not return.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in [currency] and may change at any time before you place an order. The price you pay is the one displayed at checkout when your order is confirmed.
Unless stated otherwise, prices exclude shipping and applicable sales tax, both of which are calculated and shown before you pay.
- Payment is taken in full at the time you place your order.
- We accept the payment methods listed at checkout. Card details are handled by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number.
- If a payment is declined or reversed, we may cancel the order and any related discount.
Occasionally a product may be listed at an incorrect price because of a typing or system error. If this happens, we will contact you before dispatch and give you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.
Orders and cancellations
Your order is accepted when we ship it. Tell us quickly if you want to change or cancel.
Placing an order is an offer to buy. The confirmation email you receive acknowledges that we've got your order — a contract is formed when we dispatch it.
We may decline or cancel an order if the item is out of stock, if we cannot verify payment or the delivery address, if we suspect fraud, or if a pricing error has occurred. If we cancel, you'll receive a full refund.
If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible with your order number. We can usually help if the parcel hasn't been packed. Once it has shipped, our returns policy applies instead.
Shipping and delivery
In-stock orders are usually dispatched within 1–2 business days. Estimated delivery windows shown at checkout are provided by the carrier and are not guaranteed.
- Risk of loss passes to you when the carrier delivers the parcel to the address you provided.
- Delays caused by weather, carrier backlogs, customs or incorrect addresses are outside our control.
- For international orders, you are the importer of record and responsible for any duties, taxes or customs fees charged on arrival.
- In very hot or freezing weather, wax can soften or the surface may frost in transit. This does not affect how the candle burns.
If a parcel is marked delivered but you can't find it, please check with neighbours and your building first, then contact us within 7 days so we can open a claim with the carrier.
Returns and refunds
Unused items can come back within 30 days. Damaged in transit? Send a photo and we'll replace it.
Unused, unlit items in their original packaging may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the product price. Return shipping is your responsibility unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.
If something arrives broken, leaking or wrong, email us a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days of delivery and we'll replace it or refund it — you won't need to send it back.
- Once a wick has been lit or a wax melt used, the item can no longer be returned for hygiene and safety reasons.
- Custom, personalised and clearance items are final sale.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method within [X] business days of us receiving the return.
- Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.
Scent is personal, and we'd rather you end up with one you love — if a fragrance isn't right for you, contact us and we'll help you swap it on your next order where we can.
Candle safety and proper use
Our products contain an open flame and hot wax. You are responsible for using them safely and following every instruction on the product, its packaging and its warning label.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles, melts and warmers away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
- Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains and vents.
- Trim the wick to a quarter inch before every burn.
- Do not burn for more than four hours at a time, and stop when half an inch of wax remains.
- Never move or touch a jar while it is lit or the wax is molten.
- Keep sprays away from eyes, flames and heat, and do not spray directly onto a lit candle.
Fragrance oils may irritate sensitive skin. Room and body sprays are for their labelled use only — test body spray on a small area first, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. If you are pregnant, have asthma or a known fragrance sensitivity, check with a healthcare professional before use.
Keep all products out of reach of children and pets. Some scents that are pleasant to people are not suitable around certain animals — check with your vet if you are unsure.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for injury, damage or loss resulting from failure to follow these safety instructions or the warning label on the product.
Wholesale and custom orders
Wholesale, private label and custom orders are governed by these terms together with the separate quote, order form or agreement we send you. Where the two conflict, the specific agreement wins.
- Custom and private label runs require written approval of artwork before production begins.
- Production typically takes 3–4 weeks from approved artwork, and lead times are estimates rather than guarantees.
- A deposit may be required, and deposits on custom work are non-refundable once production has started.
- Custom and personalised goods cannot be returned except where they are faulty.
- You are responsible for making sure any artwork or wording you supply is yours to use and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Gift cards and promotions
Gift cards can be used on this site only, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not replaceable if lost or shared. Any expiry date will be stated at purchase and follows applicable law.
Discount codes and promotions are subject to their own stated conditions. Unless we say otherwise, codes cannot be combined, have no cash value, apply only to full-price items, and may be withdrawn at any time. We may cancel an order and the related discount if a code is used in a way it wasn't intended.
Reviews and content you submit
When you post a review, photo, comment or tag us on social media, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce and display that content in connection with our products and marketing, with credit where practical.
You confirm that the content is yours, that it is honest, and that it doesn't contain anything unlawful, misleading, offensive or infringing. We may edit for length or remove content at our discretion, and we do not endorse opinions posted by customers.
Our intellectual property
The MC Golden Candles name, logo, label artwork, product names, scent descriptions, photography, page copy and site design are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by intellectual property law.
You may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell or use any of it for commercial purposes without our written permission. Stockists and affiliates may use approved brand assets only in line with the guidance we provide.
Things you may not do
When using this site, you agree not to:
- Break any applicable law or regulation.
- Place fraudulent orders or use a payment method that isn't yours.
- Copy, scrape, mirror or harvest content, images or customer data from the site.
- Introduce viruses or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems.
- Resell our products as your own or repackage them without a wholesale or private label agreement.
- Interfere with the site's operation or with another customer's use of it.
Third-party links
The site may link to other websites and services — payment processors, carriers, social platforms and stockists. We provide those links for convenience only. We do not control those sites, and we are not responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. Read their terms before you use them.
Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, that descriptions are complete or current, or that any scent will produce a particular effect. Nothing on this site is medical, therapeutic or safety advice.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot legally be limited.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MC Golden Candles and its owners, employees and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising out of your use of the site or our products.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
